CoNNECT will examine similarities and differences between practices that have onsite mental health providers compared to primary care practices that use a traditional referral model of offsite mental health providers.
CoNNECT
The Collaborative National Network Examining Comparative effectiveness Trials (CoNNECT) combines the power of DARTNet with the Collaborative Care Research Network (CCRN) a national network that seeks to advance effectiveness research on collaborative care (the integration of mental health, substance abuse, and behavioral health services into primary care). CCRN was created so that clinicians from across the country could investigate how to make integrated mental health and primary care work more effectively.
CoNNECT will enable comparative effectiveness research on mental health, behavioral health, and substance use in primary care. In our current study, CoNNECT will be tracking two main elements: 1) the number of patients identified with a comorbid mental health and physical health diagnosis; 2) the number of patients who initiate treatment secondary to a mental health diagnosis.
CoNNECT study practices will participate in a learning community dedicated to improving integrated mental health and primary health care.
The CoNNECT project began in August, 2010, and will continue through July, 2012.
